The same principles apply to presenting and this makes Infographics a fantastic way to convey your data without putting the room to sleep. Visual.ly is a site dedicated to Infographics and data visualizations. They host a huge amount of quality Infographics on a wide variety of topics. You can choose to embed or re-use pre-made graphics in your own presentations or in the not too distant future the site will be offering tools to help you create your own.

Alltop

The purpose of Alltop is to help you answer the question, “What’s happening?” in “all the topics” that interest you. You may wonder how Alltop is different from a search engine. A search engine is good to answer a question like, “How many people live in China?” However, it has a much harder time answering the question, “What’s happening in China?” That’s the kind of question that they answer.

They do this by collecting the headlines of the latest stories from the best sites and blogs that cover a topic. They group these collections — “aggregations” — into individual web pages. Then they display the five most recent headlines of the information sources as well as their first paragraph. Our topics run from adoption to zoologywith photography, food, science, religion, celebrities, fashion, gaming, sports, politics, automobiles, Macintosh, and hundreds of other subjects along the way.

You can think of Alltop as the “online magazine rack” of the web. They have subscribed to thousands of sources to provide “aggregation without aggravation.” To be clear, Alltop pages are starting points—they are not destinations per se. Joongel is a simple web application for searching and navigating through the most popular sources on the Internet in different categories. Their search method is based on the geographic location of the user and traffic ranking analysis from Google, Hitwise, Compete, Comscore,Nielsen//Netratings, Quantcast and more.

FindHow

FindHow, the How-To search engine, focuses on indexing only high-quality How-To's, typically from well-known, recognized brand names or individuals. Many of these sources (often companies, government entities, or educational institutions) have other motives for providing information besides pure profits, and most have trusted, off-line brand name reputations to protect - which encourages them to focus on providing trustworthy and high-quality information.

TinEye

TinEye is a reverse image search engine. You can submit an image to TinEye to find out where it came from, how it is being used, if modified versions of the image exist, or to find higher resolution versions.

TinEye is the first image search engine on the web to use image identification technology rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks. It is free to use for non-commercial searching.

TinEye regularly crawls the web for new images, and they also accept contributions of complete online image collections. To date, TinEye has indexed 2,090,717,922 images from the web to help you find what you're looking for.

I am sure that you have seen this icon on various websites that you have visited? What exactly is it? It is the RSS icon. Why do blogs/websites include this icon on their sites?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS allows the computer to bring the contents of a website or a blog to you rather than you going to it. RSS has changes the way one consumes Internet content.

Instead of bookmarking things that you found interesting and return to those resources periodically to check for updates. Going to sites to check for content can be a waste of your time if there’s nothing new to see. Instead, make that content come to you. Whenever you’re on a website, look for indicators that you can subscribe. Do you see the RSS logo pictured above? Do you see links called “Feed,” “Atom,” “RSS,” or “Subscribe”? These are indicators that an RSS feed is present. Some browsers even automatically detect the presence of feeds and turn on an RSS icon for you. A feed is just a compacted, machine-readable version of the content you’re already consuming. If you click on a feed, you may either see a bunch of code, you could see some snippits of the page content, or you could see a gaggle of buttons all with different logos on them. Either way, you’ve found a feed!

Feeds, as I mentioned, are machine-readable. You will need a tool to consume the feed. This is called a reader or an aggregator. Google Reader is a web-based tool that I utilize to keep up to date on recipe and technology blogs - it follows me wherever I go.

Once you have your feed address, find the place to click in your reader to “subscribe.” Yes, “subscribe” usually means “pay,” but in RSS terms it only means “sign me up to receive content from this source in the future.” Once you’ve clicked the subscribe button, paste the feed address into the appropriate box and hit subscribe!

Once your aggregator chews on the new feed for a minute, you should see the content from that source appear in the reader. Voila! You’ve subscribed to a feed. In the future, just load your feed reader (Google Reader for example) up and see what new content has been posted on that site. If you see something you want to see in its original glory, click the title of the posting. That usually opens the original.

Using RSS and a feed reader has given me the ability to consume much more material than I previously could. It gives me the chance to speed through lots of content and then stop when I see something that I care about and spend more time on it. Instead of going to every blog I like. Give RSS a try!

Enter the Group

This is very similar to Edmodo. At EnterTheGroup.com users create their own groups, called Projects, to get their work completed. This site allows users to collaborate and organize projects.

I am still exploring this tool but thought that I would share it! Enter the Group - however it is project based oriented, meaning to complete a project you can utilize this site to file share, etc.

Bitly or Tinyurl

Do you ever want to share a website address, but it is too long, long with numbers, etc. There are several websites like tinyurl and bitly that will shorten long addresses, by generating a new url. You can add each as an extension on your tool bar.

Issuu a digital publishing platform which delivers exceptional reading experiences of magazines, catalogs, and newspapers. Millions of people have uploaded their best publications to create beautiful digital editions. There is adult content publications, which can be turned off in your settings. Below I uploaded a pdf file to see you it works! This documents was useless as a 300 page pdf - so time consuming going to each page. Now it is more enjoyable!

Alphabetimals - A Fun Way to Learn Alphabet

Alphabetimals is a nice website on which you will find some nice resources for helping young children learn the alphabet. The main feature of Alphabetimals is an interactive flipbook featuring animal sounds and the pronunciations of animal names.

The Alphabetimals characters can spell out any word that you would like. Just type in the word and it will be printed for you. You can then print out the Alphabetimaltized (yes, I just made up that term) version of the word. Alphabetimals also offers free printable flashcards, an alphabet poster, and alphabet coloring pages.

Alphabetimals is funded by sales of Alphabetimals products like posters and tee shirts. For every product purchased they donate a book to Books for Africa.

Applications for Education
Alphabetimals offers some nice little resources to help you help children learn the alphabet. For folks like me who are not artistically inclined, the option to type a word and print it in an alphabetimalized version could be a nice way to print and display vocabulary words in your elementary school classroom.

Have you ever wondered how some websites create all those cool fonts, especially the animated ones? I have explored the Internet and found several sites to share with you so that you can create you own. I have created several posts of websites that deal with animating text! I have also included a photo editing website as well - where you can edit photos, make collages, create a cube of pictures, apply animation onto your photos. You not only can use these fonts on websites, but on documents as well!
